The Carrie Secrist Gallery exhibits emerging and established contemporary art in all media. On the first floor of the 835 W. Washington building, a place that also houses Kavi Gupta Gallery, Thomas McCormick Gallery, and Kraft/Lieberman Gallery, the space has a presence of its own despite all the surrounding art.
The gallery is a high-class (but not stuffy) space, one that replaces the customary postcards by the door with fold out cardboard brochures, complete with quotes from well-known writers and beautifully colored renderings of the current artist's work. And it only improves from there. Carrie Secrist presents a wide, thought provoking range of contemporary art that zones in on the conceptual, installation-based, and surrealistic imaginings. Artists on board include Helen Altman, Carolyn Ottmers, and Richard Hull, just to name a few.
