Sports bar by day, dance club by night, Maxum attracts an interesting set of visitors. On a game day, you'll get sports fans there to watch the action one of the bar's 20 TVs. On a Friday night, you'll get a young crowd looking to either dance or hook-up (or both). And on most occasions, you're sure to find some creepsters there to ogle the attractive waitresses.
On a typical weekend night, a DJ pumps out loud dance music from the back corner while young patrons show their appreciation on the small adjacent dance floor. During our visit, the dance floor never saw a lot of action, but as the night wore on, more people did join in. Instead of sports, the TVs were tuned to TMF (The Music Factory), a European music channel showing strange, psychedelic dance videos that may or may not have syncd with what the DJ was spinning. Non-dancers found comfort in the back, which houses a game room with pool tables, air hockey and dart boards and a lounge area with comfortable booths and a smaller bar. As for eats, Maxum serves everything from a $7 southwest chicken wrap to a $25 bone-in ribeye. The bar also offers daily drink specials, including $10 buckets on Monday.
