Date: May 2, 2008
Cost: Free
Organizer: Chicago Loop Alliance
What to expect: An all-night party in the Loop for Chicago's young and old modeled after "White Night" events in Europe.
Why to go: We can't pick just one thing, and you won't have to. A few events that caught our eye among the hundreds: FootworKINGZ (5:40 p.m., Daley Plaza), "Cyrano's Devotion," presented by Tantalus Theatre Group (6:30 p.m., One South Dearborn), KOOZA Kite Action from Cirque du Soleil, Nikkos and the Extraordinary Renditions' mobile musical spectacle and, of course, Blaze's choreographed fire dancing.
Additional info: Theatre, dance, music and visual art programs will run from dusk until dawn at spots throughout the Loop. Check out the website for an hour-by-hour rundown of events.
This year, Looptopia hosts the first day of the Around the Coyote Spring Festival, which runs May 2-4. Check out nine hours of music at the Fine Arts Building and multimedia art displays (including video shorts) throughout the fest.
