Known by its hipper moniker, LPAC, this Lincoln Park mainstay has two major perks bound to spice up any fitness routine: a pool and a 70-foot climbing wall. The 20-meter pool is the site of classes, such as swim training and water workout, in addition to open swims. Via its climbing wall, LPAC offers crack climbing, a horizontal roof, a 30-degree overhang and synthetic ice. Four-week “learn to climb” courses are just $85 for members.
For another nice bonus, check out the personal training structure. By offering half-hour sessions (versus the typical hour of other clubs), you’ll be able to get a fair amount of instruction without breaking the bank. Costs begin at $40 per session, but purchase 16 and the half-hour rate drops to $35. Or team up with friends; four individuals can share a session for just $15 each. In addition to the traditional (but important) rows of cardio machines, class studios, strength training equipment and saunas, LPAC offers some beyond-the-norm classes, like balance, NYC ballet workout, hip-hop/funk and prenatal fittrack. Keeping up with the latest trends in health and fitness that accomodate our busy, stress-inducing lifestyles, LPAC's latest class additions include flexible stretch and blast (two 30-minute courses), live music spin, boxing bootcamp and yoga on the ball.
