The Prospect Heights Public Library District includes books, videos, educational games, CD-ROM products, video cassettes, DVDs, compact discs, recorded books on cassette or CD, magazines and newspapers available for check out. Some of the services offered by the library include computers available for public use. There are three quiet study rooms which may be used on a first-come, first-served basis for card holders. The lobby walls often display artwork by local artists. Patrons with collections they would like to share with the community may exhibit them in the locked display cases across from the Circulation Desk.
Library programming appears locally on Comcast Channel 24 since Prospect Heights PLD is a member or Library Cable Network (LCN). The library also offers home-bound service for patrons who can not come to the library. There are copy machines including one color copier, large print books, magnifiers and the Optelec Low Vision Reading Aid enabling patrons to read books and newspapers, sign checks, fill out tax forms and do any other chores which need an enlargement of printed materials. Other services include free public access to the Internet, a monthly newsletter mailed to all households in the library district, programs for adults and children that include twice-weekly story times, reading clubs, crafts, senior programs, instructional seminars, book discussion groups and live performances.
Also available to assist patrons in locating information and materials are numerous computerized Reference products, many available to district cardholders via the Library website.
