Editorial Review of Bogies Ale House

It may look like a barn, but Bogies Ale House isn't all that country. The charming building even has a little silo, but that's about as a close to a farm as this place gets. Not only is it located on a busy commercial stretch in the northwest 'burbs, Bogies (formerly known as The Loft) also has bars on two levels, several plasma TVs and DJs on the weekends.

It has a pretty cool interior with a long bar on the right side of the first floor and booths for dining on the right. Upstairs, the arched ceiling, wooden floors and pool table make for an even better bar atmosphere. There's also a huge outdoor patio along the side of the barn. Bogies serves a pretty diverse set of visitors. Afternoons attract old fogies and the working crowd, while weekend nights bring out younger bar-hoppers.

Burgers and pizzas seem to be the staples here, but the restaurant does offer a curious mix of all-you-can-eat lunch buffets: Italian on Monday, Mexican on Tuesday, European on Wednesday, Oriental on Thursday, seafood on Friday and brunch and bloody marys on the weekends. I guess this place doesn't subscribe to the saying, "do one thing and do it well." The bar also has several good specials each month and features its own Bogies Red beer, which is brewed by Leinenkugel (and looks and tastes suspiciously like Leinenkugel Red).
