| The second director of the Chicago Symphony Chorus (he succeeded founder Margaret Hillis in 1994), Wolfe had previously been director of choral work at the Aspen Music Festival. After founding and directing the Colorado Symphony Chorus for the 1984-85 season, he also began the Colorado Children's Chorale, an organization which now comprises six choirs, and tours under the auspices of Columbia Artists.
