Hector Lopez

Hector L Some people learn as they go but for Hector Lopez its pure natural talent. Though learning is an everyday on-going process for everyone, this Chicago north-sider takes it to another level. His love for DJing began at an early age when he would listen to the legendary pioneers of house such as Ralphi Rosario, Kenny Jason and Farley Keith on Chicago’s very own WBMX. He landed gigs at Clubland, Alcatrazz, McGreevy’s and the original Medusas. Hector was then asked to work at Chicago’s Gramaphone Records, a familiar place where he shopped for music and would later called home. This became a major gateway to other ventures and gave him the opportunity to stay on top of his music and meet other people in the industry. Hector worked at the highly regarded Gramaphone records for nine exceptional years and continues his close relationship with them today. In 1994 he shared a residency with Darrell Woodson at Cairo (the mummy bar) and till this day he considers it being one of the most memorable times spinning because the crowd was very responsive and supportive of underground house. His longest tenure was 8 years at Martini Ranch where he established their Saturday nights into one of the best for providing old school house, or what some may call “classics”. It is Hector’s dedication and charisma that ultimately motivates him to pursue and embrace what is now a flourishing career.
