James Iha, best known for his association with the Smashing Pumpkins, released his 1998 solo debut, Let It Come Down (Virgin) -- a mellow pop-thing in stark contrast to the Pumpkin's sound. Joining Iha on the record are keyboardist Adam Schlesinger (Ivy, Fountains of Wayne), former Pumpkin drummer Matt Walker (Filter, The Cupcakes), and his brother, bassist Solomon Snyder (Cupcakes), Hammond player John Ginty, pedal and lap steel Greg Leisz. Singer/songwriter Neal Casal, Veruca Salt's Nina Gordon and Pumpkin D'Arcy Wretzky also help out on vocals. A tour -- with the schedules of all the folks involved -- is probably not practical, but Iha anticipates performing some acoustic dates with Casal.
In July 2003, guitarist James Iha joined the music band, A Perfect Circle. According to aperfectcircle.org, James and guitarist/vocalist Billy Howerdel first met while Billy was a guitar tech for the Smashing Pumpkins. James joined the band only weeks before A Perfect Circle was to embark on a new tour. For more information, visit their website: http://www.aperfectcircle.com
