| Guitar/Cello duo (now masquerades in a more-fleshed out form as Verbow). Guitarist Jason Narducy played at the Cubby Bear when he was 11 (with Verboten), opening for bands like Naked Raygun. Later he was a member of the power trio On, and does an excellent rendition of the Bob Mould solo songbook (good enough, indeed, that Bob Mould invited them to open three sold-out Metro performances in '95, as well as two weeks of shows in the Northeast). As long as we're name-dropping, we'll mention that they've also opened for Morphine, Liz Phair, +Live+, Jonathan Richman and Poi Dog Pondering. He met cellist Alison Chesley in Evanston, where she was studying at Northwestern University's School of Music. They've released an album, Woodshed, and did a 7-date East Coast tour opening for Live. They now play together almost exclusively as Skinny (with drummer David Suycott -- previously of Stabbing Westward and Machines of Loving Grace and bassist Jason Block). Links
