| Specializing in percussion and world music, Joe has spent most of his time performing, recording, and teaching music around Chicago and the Midwest. He has played on several CDs including the latest recording from "Poi Dog Pondering", Natural Thing. Joe performed with "Poi" at Alpine Valley, Soldier Field and the 4th of July XRT show at Grant Park during Taste of Chicago. He co-produced and played on the 1998 debut CD of the "Pan Go" steel band. "Pan Go" performed at Chicago?s Jazz Showcase in Jan. of ?99. Joe performs with several other bands including the contemporary jazz band "Big Roy" ( see www.bigroy.com), the latin jazz group "Suenos" (featured on the TV show Wild Chicago) and "Hurricane Gumbo" (zydeco). Check out http://hurricanegumbo.com. Each of these bands has recorded one or more CDs. His work can also be heard on radio/ TV commercials for United Airlines, Bally Total Fitness, Hoover, Boku, Carrier, Corona, the Illinois Bureau of Tourism and many others. Joe?s expertise was requested by the Field Museum this past year in preparation for the new "Sounds From the Vaults" exhibit. He was asked to play several ancient percussion instruments so their sounds could be digitally stored to be experienced by future generations. This unique exhibit was the longest running in the Museum?s history and was open to visitors from Sept. 1999 thru June 2000.
