 Jazz flutist who records with local indie jazz label Southport Records. He's recorded three releases: Exploration 1997, Visionary , a 1995 tribute to John Coltrane and Deluge in 1993. Contributors on his solid '97 effort Explorations include Kirk Brown, piano, Avreeayl Ra, drums, Steve Berry, trombone, Yosef Ben Israel, bass, Michael Raynor, drums, Aras Biskis, percussion, Thaddeus Expose, bass (all members of the AACM) and bassist Harrison Bankhead. Thankfully Mason allows all the players more than a bit part, each contributing fully to the songs, not relegated to the background. The result is a very smooth and balanced sound that is beautifully anchored and tied together by Mason's flute.
