Lonnie Brooks' drummer for the past six years, this Chicagoan has studied with Les DeMerle (Manhattan Transfer, Harry James), Johnny Lee Lane, and Paul Wertico. Working some 300 dates/year in the Chicago blues scene since 1990, the opportunity to play worldwide came in 1994, when Brooks asked him to join his band, replacing Kevin Mitchell, who was leaving for medical reasons.

Doody has performed with Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Elvin Bishop, Jr Wells, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Kenny Neal, Sugar Blue, James Cotton, Johnny Copeland, Melvin Taylor, Eddie Clearwater, Otis Clay, Otis Rush, Chris Robinson & the Black Crows, Luthor Allison, Bernard Allison, Larry Mc Cray, Billy Branch, Eddy King, BB Odem, Big Time Sara, Magic Slim, Tinsley Ellis, Ronnie Earle, Barbara LeShore, Phil Guy, Fernando Jones, Lefty Dizz, Long John Hunter, Phillip Walker, Pinetop Perkins, Casey Jones, Jellybean Johnson, Slash, Shameka Copeland, Andy West, The Kinsey Report, Corey Harris, Ronnie Baker Brooks, and Don Griffin.

He has written and recorded two instructional test/cassette packages which focus on developing drum technique. Another 2-volume drum instructional package Blues Foundations Vol. I & II, is due out shortly.
