Paul Switch

Longtime local rock/blues/funk artist, Switch has a new record, Blue Eyed Katz out on Worm Entertainment Records. His debut Grace the Heart received strong AAA airplay across the country. Switch handles all the guitars and lead vocals on the records. The latest, Katz is a testament to Switch's diverse musical influences. It seamlessly combines blues, rock, jazz and world influences into an interesting and funky mix. Standout tracks include "Better Days" and "Spill the Wine" (yes, a cover of the classic War tune re-popularized by Boogie Nights). Kathy Braaten's backing vocals on "Changing Moon" are superb. The album works well as a whole (it's a great collection of funky, good-time party music) though several of the individual tracks would work well as singles. Though the songs are lush, they are not overly complicated or overwrought. All in all, Switch has created that rare and treasured thing: a well-produced and well-crafted pop album.
