| Typhanie Monique is one of the hardest working vocalists in Chicago who can sing and emote anything with a bit of soul. Over past few years, she began her musical career with bands such as Jive Council and Those Swingers. She then proceeded to create her own band, Peking Tutle. Peking Turtle fit into the funk/acid-jazz scene that was happening from '97 - '02. While gigging, managing and writing for Peking she also worked with her own jazz quartet (her first love). Around Jan. '01, she began singing lead with SUMO, the resident improv band at the Elbo Room on Sunday nights. At the beginning of '03 she realized it was time for a change and decided to focus on her jazz improv skills and will release her first jazz CD, "Intrinsic" on Blujazz Records with duo partner, guitarist, Neal Alger. Typhanie teaches at the Old Town School of Folk Music - jazz vocal classes and private instruction. She also sings and co-writes house music with Poi Dog Pondering keyboardist, Rick Gehrenbeck. for more info or sound clips listen to...www.tmonique.com / www.tymoneal.com For more information, visit their website: http://www.tmonique.com
