"Veggie oasis" is more than just a catchphrase at this suburban restaurant that specializes in international vegetarian cuisine. Food aside, the restaurant, established in 1982, uses state-of-the-art air and water filtration systems to ensure environmental purity, as well as a chemical-free dishwasher. In an effort to prepare only healthy food, Chowpatti prepares each dish with minimal oil, low-fat cheese and fat free beans; vegan and wheat-free options are available upon request.
Just as impressive as the approach is the result. A staggering 26-page menu includes a range of gourmet soups and salads, countless sandwiches, more than 30 fresh juices and vegetarian takes on American favorites like the chili dog. And that’s just the start. You can also choose items like Lala Puri (a very spicy Indian tostada topped with potato, onions and hot chutney), Pav Bhaji (meatless stew) and veggie lasagna. Bring a group to make a stab at sampling at least a handful of the flavorful choices.
