The bright orange chilies listed on the menu next to spicy entrees should be taken seriously: The food here is hot! Squeezed into a tight storefront overlooking Drummond Street (just steps from the nearby
Landmark Century Centre Cinema), this eatery has an open kitchen with a lunch counter for those who wish to dine in. The friendly staff is accustomed to taking lengthy take-out and delivery orders (which they also take via fax). They also like to play infectious pop music while you watch your food get stir-fried.
Try the Little Chilies special, the LC Set, which includes your choice of an appetizer, entree and drink for only $7. The meat is usually ground, which may not please all diners, but this approach makes for an excellent hot chili. Most dishes taste like a mixture of Thai food and Creole chili dishes. Individual appetizers start at $3.50 (the pot stickers are wonderful!) and entrees cost $6 each. Vegetarians should spring for the "Golden Tofu," deep-fried tofu stir-fried with hot chili, bell peppers and onion.
Little Chilies also has a selection of Thai iced coffees and bubble tea smoothies. Unusual flavors range from the "Magic Mocha" to a honeydew-flavored mixture, available with or without tapioca pearls.
