Vegetarian Indian food is far from an anomaly, but few restaurants can pull off the class and authenticity that Mysore Woodlands achieves. The spacious, dimly lit restaurant with glass chandeliers offers a dining experience that's distinctly different from the cling and clatter of bustling, buffet-style Indian eateries.

The purely vegetarian, South Indian menu specializes in dosai ($5.99-$11.99). These Indian-style crepes come stuffed with such simple ingredients as potatoes and onions (masala dosai); slightly fancier wheat lentil crepes come with onion, potatoes and chilis (special rava masala dosai). If you want something a tad heavier, go with the uthappam: rice flour pancakes stuffed with veggies such as tomatoes, peas and carrots. At a fairly hefty price ($4.75), the falooda, an exotic milk-based drink flavored with rose syrup, perfectly polishes off your meal.

While Mysore Woodlands clearly focuses on dinner, as the lunch menu features a measly three options, the filing portions served with the mid-day meal ($7.95) are a safe and satisfying bet. BYOB.
