| Fostering controversial theater that promises to challenge the audience and provoke thought and discussion, the Strawdog Theater Company began life in 1988 using spaces such as the back room of Cafe Voltaire. Now in its own permanent space at 3829 N. Broadway, Strawdog often offers pay-what-you-can and discount tickets on Sundays and for off-night productions. Productions tend to be darker and edgier than average. Past productions have included Temptation, an adapted version of Kafka's Dearest Father, Back Bog Beast Bait and The House of Yes.
